Latest seasonal forecast (December) available

Posted on December 10, 2019

ENSO-neutral is favoured throughout this forecast period. While parts of southern Africa received large amounts of rainfall during the first ¼ of December, the seasonal forecast models remain pessimistic about favourable rainfall conditions for the remainder of the mid-summer period. As such, predominantly unfavourable rainfall conditions are expected during the larger part of summer over the summer rainfall regions. However, rainfall conditions may improve towards autumn. The predicted unfavourable rainfall conditions are accompanied by predicted predominantly high maximum temperatures. The forecast can be downloaded here.
