Action is key

Dear colleagues and students

Our theme for 2020 is “Action is key”. In order for us to achieve what we have set out and overcome challenges that we are faced with we need to take action. Pablo Picasso once said, "Action is the foundational key to all success."

Taking action involves defining success, setting goals, implementing what is set out in our strategic plans and following through with the plans.

Many of you are doing your best in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is very important for us to work together and continue to be #LifeChangers. I would like to salute all of our Health Care Workers delivering essential services in hospitals, pathology and screening laboratories and wish you all the best in the difficult days ahead.  May you receive the necessary strength, energy and good health to continue to serve the country and the nation.  You are making us proud!

Thank you to the Faculty Executive, including the School Chairs, Faculty Manager and Support Services for their hard work, leadership and continuous support.  Not forgetting the contribution of students and all volunteers. You are all making a difference.

Let’s continue with the academic programme as soon as it will be possible.  Alternative and creative ways will be used in teaching and learning and we will push the boundaries of hybrid teaching on the clinical platforms.  We will succeed and we will complete the academic year successfully. For those at home during the lockdown period, please use the time productively.

Together we will overcome COVID-19 and successfully complete the academic year. Please also check out the special section in the newsletter regarding the Coronavirus.

Please remember to engage with us, send us content and follow us on social media, just click on http://hsup.co.za/ to gain access to all of our platforms. If you have content that you would like us to share and distribute please send it to [email protected]

Remember to be kind to each other and yourselves.

Kind Regards,

Prof Tiaan de Jager
