Download: Anti-discrimination and Escalation policy

Posted on June 03, 2020

Faculty of Health Sciences students and staff members can download the Anti-discrimination and Escalation Policies below. Please note that it is essential that staff take note of the content of the policies.

Anti-discrimination policy: This policy recognises that the work of building an inclusive, affirming and transformed University cannot be achieved merely through the adoption of measures such as new policies and the establishment of institutions. However important such steps are, realising the vision of a transformed university will ultimately depend on the persistent, day-to-day individual and collaborative efforts of all who work and study at the University.

Escalation policy: The purpose of this policy is to set out clearly the route that should be followed by staff, students, researchers, service providers and contractors in escalating issues, concerns and complaints to Senior Management and the Executive of the University of Pretoria.

Occupational Health and Safety (OHS)

The Executive of the University of Pretoria (UP) recently approved a new policy on Occupational Health and Safety (OHS). The policy outlines UP’s approach regarding compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act 85 of 1993).

The purpose of the policy is to ensure that all stakeholders create and sustain a healthy, safe, risk-free environment for all individuals on all UP premises. This policy applies to all faculties and academic departments, all professional service divisions and sections, as well as permanent and contract employees, students, contractors, and visitors to all UP premises. Non-compliance with the OHS Act by the University may result in legal penalties as set out in the OHS Act and could lead to reputational risks to the institution.

Staff and students should familiarise themselves with the content of the policy, which is available on this link to download Occupational Health and Safety.
