The Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment and Information Technology at the University of Pretoria is the largest of its kind in South Africa. The School of Engineering ranks in the top 1% of engineering institutions globally. We produce more than a quarter of South Africa’s engineers. We have many multi- and transdisciplinary postgraduate programmes as well as unique research facilities to help our students test their ideas and develop new, African solutions to global problems.
The faculty is also home to the Graduate School of Technology Management, which has courses that are colloquially known as the MBA for engineers. Our Engineering 4.0 complex – a partnership between the South African National Roads Agency, the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research and York Timbers – is specially designed for research into and the testing of road and rail engineering, smart cities and infrastructure. We aim to produce research that will aid Africa’s development in the fourth industrial revolution.
