In terms of the Memorandum of Agreement entered into between the Vice-Chancellor and Principal and student leaders on 26 October 2015, the University of Pretoria has set up an Interim Financial Aid Helpdesk. The Helpdesk will be operational from 12:00 on Monday, 2 November 2015 and will be situated in the Client Service Centre.
It is recommended that all students should look at the status of their student account on the UP Student Portal prior to approaching the Helpdesk.
All students who qualified for NSFAS in 2015 and who were not assisted or not assisted sufficiently in 2015 will be assisted using the additional funds the University of Pretoria has made available for this purpose.
To define students requiring financial assistance, including students from working class families, the University will use the NSFAS funding framework as a guideline.
Where resident students have run out of funds for meals, residence meal allocations will be extended to the end of the revised 2015 examinations period. Students applying for such assistance must bring along their examinations timetable to the Helpdesk. This extended meal allocation will entail a fixed amount per student per day.
No student who is currently in a UP residence will be excluded from residence re-placement on the basis of unpaid accounts, provided that they qualify in terms of all other residence placement criteria.
