The Mimi Coertse Scholarship Competition
The Mimi Coertse singing competition was originally established at the University of Pretoria in 1959 to give recognition to the remarkable achievements of Kammersängerin Mimi Coertse as an opera singer. The current purpose of the scholarship is to provide financial aid to singers from the Gauteng region who are no older than 30 to further their studies at a tertiary institution. The Music Department of the University of Pretoria awards this scholarship in the form of a singing competition for young classical singers. A panel of adjudicators is appointed by the University of Pretoria to judge the singers. Click here for further information.
