Postdoctoral Fellow - Lynette Osiemo

Posted on August 10, 2018

Lynette is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Pretoria, researching about the contribution of law clinics and legal incubators to the improvement of legal education. Through her research, she hopes to propose Clinical Legal Education as an ideal and necessary way of educating a new generation of lawyers, specifically for the context of Kenya. She also plans to promote the concept of the legal incubator, or law firm incubator, as a means to better prepare young law graduates to set up their own law firms upon completion of their undergraduate studies, while at the same time committing themselves to serve the underserved.

Lynette completed her PhD studies at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, researching on the topic of business and human rights. She subsequently worked as an adjunct lecturer at Strathmore Law School in Nairobi where she taught human rights and the law of partnerships. While at Strathmore, she worked with a team of faculty and students to set in motion the process of establishing a law clinic at the School. Lynette’s research areas of interest are human rights law, commercial law and legal education
