A book authored by Prof Lourie Terblance of our Department was officially launched on 19 September 2018 at the annual conference of the Employee Assistance Professionals Association in Port Elizabeth. The book, titled Creating legacy in EAP Business: The South African approach towards Employee Assistance, provides an overview of the establishment of EAP and EAP training in South Africa; a process in which Prof Terblanche played a key role. Prof Terblanche was also awarded an EAPA-SA Special Recognition Award for his commitment and contributions to the employee assistance profession and the EAPA-SA.

The conference theme was The EAPA-SA and Pan-African Eduweek. Prof Terblanche presented a paper titled EAP Counselling approaches: Widening the scope; deliberating the need for an Africanised counselling model within the EAP context.  Dr David Igbokwe from the Covenant University in Nigeria was co-compiler of the paper.

At the same conference, Prof Terblanche as past president of EAPA-SA, was a member of a panel discussion on the EAP FOR AFRICA project, initiated in April 2010 under his leadership. The project focuses on sharing challenges and successes of the EAPA-SA venture, taking EAPs into Africa.
