Conference 2017

The School of Public Management and Administration (SPMA) held its 10th International Conference at the Burgers Park Hotel in Pretoria from 26-27 October 2017 under the theme: A decade of debating public administration and management issues in an era of multiple challenges and constraints. Participants presented thought provoking papers on a wide range of subthemes. The discourse centred on public sector challenges and constraints both nationally and internationally. We were pleased to host eight international participants who took part in this year’s conference. Advocate Richard Sizani, chair of the South African Public Service Commission, delivered an insightful keynote address in which he challenged both public administration scholars and practitioners to work together for the good of the public sector.  Dr George Scott, Secretary General of the African Association for Public Administration and Management (AAPAM) urged public administration scholars to intensify research on public administration and management and provide an African perspective on the discipline of Public Administration.
