Partnerships and Collaborations

 

Radboud University Nijmegen

The Department of Philosophy at the University of Pretoria has an agreement with the Radboud University Nijmegen. A number of postgraduate students from the Department have visited Nijmegen and gained credits as part of the requirements for their honours degrees in philosophy at our University. Financial assistance in the form of bursaries has been successfully arranged for these students. 

 

South African Centre for Artificial Intelligence Research (CAIR)

The University of Pretoria and the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) signed a Collaboration Agreement pertaining to the Department of Philosophy and the South African Centre for Artificial Intelligence Research (CAIR) in 2015. Prof Ruttkamp-Bloem is a researcher at CAIR and also the leader of the ethics of AI research group at CAIR. Her position at CAIR allows research collaboration, joint post-doctoral fellow programs, and financial assistance in the form of scholarships to postgraduate students working in the Department of Philosophy on the ethics of AI. To date, 9 honours students, 3 Masters students, and 3 doctoral students have received funding from the CSIR via the collaboration agreement with CAIR.
