Previous and Forthcoming Paediatric UPdate Meetings:

  • 2013 - 1-3 March, Auditorium, UP
  • 2014 - 28 Feb - 2 March, Conference Centre, UP

The Department of Paediatrics hosted a very successful annual UPdate meeting from the 12th to the 13th of March 2011 at the CSIR Conference Centre. The UPdate originated as a meeting to celebrate the University of Pretoria's centenary, but has now grown into an annual meeting that provides information and insights into recent developments in the field of Paediatrics.

Support for the meeting has grown exponentially over the last two years with doctors from both the public and private sector attending. Many of the delegates came from neighbouring provinces with some as far as Kwazulu-Natal. The pharmaceutical industry helped to bring about an excellent meeting.

International experts, complimented by very knowledgeable local speakers, contributed to an academic programme of high quality. The meeting was concluded with a very enjoyable lunch, during which Professor Michael Pepper gave a talk titled “Mapping the human genome, the dawning of a new era in healthcare”.

A short summary of the content of the sessions as well as photo’s (9MB) are available for download.

We hope that the knowledge gained during this UPdate will serve the participants well in the years to come and that the annual meeting will grow to become one of the leading events of this kind in South Africa.
