Academics

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." -Nelson Mandela

The Academic portfolio aims to be the voice of the student, forming the bridge between the lectures and students with the aim of ensuring that each and every student is afforded the opportunity to learn and grow academically to their fullest potential.

The portfolio seeks to provide students with the necessary academic support that they require to ensure their success during their time at Onderstepoort. This is achieved through Mentorship programmes that facilitate the transition of students specifically from main campus to the Onderstepoort Veterinary campus, through interaction with senior students and academic staff. The mentorship programme in future will be carried out to each year, providing support to students throughout their academic career, with experienced lectures helping to guide and nurture students until graduation and possibly further into their careers.

We are more than just books, we are acommunity. We aim to help students grow in their individuality and overall wellness as they seek to make an impact in the veterinary field.

Onderstepoort Para-veterinary and Veterinary Student Senate:

Simply put: Power to the People. We have put the Senate in place to make sure that the masses are represented and that all leaders are held accountable. By building in this sub-system, class reps and module reps can bring their knowledge and experience straight to the Faculty door. This system is also circular in nature: while the Senate keeps a watchful eye on OPVSC to make sure that we do our job, they are, in turn, being held accountable by the masses that they serve. As long as the Senate stands, we are confident that our student leaders will be optimal in their serving of the Student Body.
