Information Governance

The purpose of the Information Governance portfolio is to define the principles and guidelines for managing institutional information owned or produced by the University of Pretoria.

This function strategically contributes to the development and implementation of an Information Governance Framework and Strategy to ensure accountability, transparency and legal compliance, in support of the University’s strategic objectives.

At the University of Pretoria we deal with a lot of information. From the information we collect about our students, to the information we create when we do research; information is pivotal to what we do. By harnessing the power of information appropriately, we can be better teachers, researchers, and innovators.

As you know, the University has embarked on a three-year Information Governance and Privacy Protection (iGaPP) programme.  This will put the structures in place for us to be able to manage and use information properly and in a responsible way.  Please click HERE to visit the iGaPP website
