Erasmus Mundus Action 2 Partnerships scholarship programme, funded by the European Commission. It is coordinated by the University of Antwerp (and jointly by CPUT in Cape Town) and it promotes mobility for South African and European students, researchers, academic and administrative staff. The partnership offered mobility grants to South African and European Masters students, Doctoral and Post-doctoral researchers and Staff in March 2015 to spend a mobility period abroad at one of the partner institutions. The EUROSA partnership is committed to contribute to the development of redressing past imbalances and to improve the participation rate of historically disadvantaged individuals in higher education. Capacity building and human development, with specific attention to vulnerable groups and excellent academic potential, are at the core of the project. It promotes the intercultural dialogue and international cooperation between the higher education institutions involved. Talented students from different regions and different social economic backgrounds received the unique opportunity to spend a mobility/study period abroad and benefited linguistically, culturally and socially from this intercultural experience in a new learning environment.
As the Programme will be phased out by July 2018, only a few scholarships still remained for European applicants. The deadline date passed and we await the outcome soon.
