2018 IE Projects Evening

“IE Final Years' excellence exceed expectations”
 
The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (IE) hosted the annual Final Year Projects Evening on Thursday 1 November 2018 at the University of Pretoria (UP) in the prestigious Aula Theatre. Prof Johan Joubert welcomed all the guests and Mrs Wilna Bean introduced the six selected student presenter. 
 
Without further ado, the six selected final year project presenters were (in random order):
Melissa van Niekerk
Palesa Maringa
Christelle Els
Carike Karsten
Tanya Venter and
Damien de Gouveia
 
A panel of adjudicators were appointed to assess the winners for the best project presentation.

The following students were awarded prizes in the below listed categories during the awards ceremony. Prof Sarma Yadavalli, Head of IE at UP, announced the winners:
Best Project Presentation:
1. Damien de Gouveia - Winner
2. Christelle Els - 2nd place and
3. Palesa Maringa - 3rd place
 
Best Project Document:
1. Tanya Venter - Winner
2. Jeanette Pearce - 2nd place and
3. Marthie Labuschagne - 3rd place
 
Best Project Poster:
1.  Anieke Swanepoel - Winner
2.  Schalk van Wyk- 2nd place and 
3. Rule Des Fontaine - 3rd place
 
Congratulations to all the student presenters, prize winners, final year (IE) students and their Supervisors who had to endure hours of hard work to perfect their final year projects. Special appreciation is conveyed to all the 'donor companies' who provided the means to make the evening possible.
