Office of the Deputy Dean: Teaching and Learning

Teaching and Learning is one of three governance pillars supported by a management model to oversee the core functions of the University and its faculties, the other two being Research & Postgraduate Studies and Community Engagement.

The responsibility for this portfolio in the Faculty falls under the Office of the Deputy Dean: Teaching and Learning. The Faculty wishes to ensure that the veterinary and veterinary nursing undergraduate degree programmes and the type and scope of taught postgraduate programmes are responsive to the local context and the requirements of the veterinary and veterinary nurses professions in South Africa.

The Faculty continuously strives for national and international recognition and standing. In the process it is crucial that all departments adhere to high academic standards as prescribed by the appropriate professional and academic bodies and that there are effective quality control mechanisms for the management of teaching and learning. The Faculty wants to achieve excellence and similar academic standards in the quality management of Continuing Education courses while recognizing the different training and teaching ethos' of departments within the Faculty.

The Deputy Dean: Teaching and Learning, Prof Rhoda Leask (below) acts as academic programme manager in the Faculty for all the academic programmes and is supported by staff of the Department of Student Administration. Click here to access the Department of Student Administration.
