Dr Tomoko Kitagawa - public lecture During the age of exploration, mathematics contributed to the early stage of globalisation, facilitating the synchronisation and synthesis of knowledge. This talk highlights the interactions and transmission of mathematical ideas from not only Europe to East Asia (via South Africa), but also from East Asia to Europe, and discusses the dynamics of the global history of mathematics.
