            Research Synergy symposium held at Faculty of Education

The School of Psychology Research Synergy Symposium was held at the Faculty of Education. The  welcoming word was done by Prof Irma Eloff.

Prof Alewyn Nel, spoke on the ‘Introduction to Industrial Psychology’. He is the Head of the Department of Human Resource Management in the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences. Then Prof Ruth Mampane, Head of the Department of Educational Psychology spoke on the ‘Introduction to the Department of Educational Psychology’ in the Faculty of Education and she was followed by Prof Claire Wagner, Head of the Department of Psychology with the ‘Introduction to the Department of Psychology’, which is in the Faculty of Humanities.

Focus areas included organisational behaviour work-life balance; subjective career success;  psychological ownership; psychological contract; leadership talent management; cross-cultural psychology and diversity management; identity personality social desirability; psychometrics development and many more.

Prof Liesel Ebersöhn and other researchers gave an ‘Overview of studies in the Centre for the Study of Resilience (CSR)’; Prof Linda Theron discussed a ‘Resilient youth in stressed environments’ while Prof Ronél Ferreira gave insight into ‘Supporting coping and resilience in vulnerable school-community contexts through participatory intervention research’.

The attendance was outstanding and the short, excellent sessions kept everyone anticipating to hear the next presentation. The input was wonderful and everyone present left empowered.
