Tax students advises entrepreneurs in business incubator

Posted on June 14, 2018

Honours students from the Department of Taxation had the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills in a simulated training environment when they took part in a workplace simulation project on 29 May 2018, in collaboration with the Department of Business Management.

The Department of Business Management provides its students with a facility known as “business incubators”, where they receive guidance on preparing business plans and setting out on the career paths as entrepreneurs. The Taxation students provided the aspiring entrepreneurs with basic tax information to start and run their businesses effectively. This was done through group presentations on the different types of taxes that businesses may encounter.

The Tax students clarified a number of issues regarding taxation for the Business Management students, such as what an aspiring entrepreneur should know about taxes and his business, what the tax administrative issues faced by businesses are, as well as how, where and when to register for a specific type of tax and how to complete tax returns.
