Message from the Deputy Dean: Teaching and Learning

Welcome to the webpage of the Office of the Deputy Dean: Teaching and Learning in the Faculty of Health Sciences. The priorities of the Office are to promote excellence in teaching and learning, strengthen and support research in education, and increase access, throughput and diversity.

Our vision is captured in a ‘Triple A’ model of excellence:

• ACCOUNTABILITY to the institution and the broader society we serve.

• ALIGNMENT of our programmes and support structures for both students and faculty with best practice as appropriate to our context.

• Supporting an ACADEMIC COMMUNITY OF PRACTICE in a learning environment which fosters collaboration and promotes the scholarship of teaching and learning.

A focus on quality teaching at an undergraduate level lays the foundation for postgraduate studies, and is closely tied to the strategic goal of raising the University’s international profile through research.
