RAG Of Hope Day

Posted on November 27, 2018

On the 10th of February, the University of Pretoria's RAG Council held the Rag Of Hope Day event, where we take this day to acknowledge the community that surrounds us, and the power we have in aiding them for a better future.

During the course of the day, there were activities for the whole family to partake in. Starting with the fun run where you would run/ walk 2.5km around the University's Sport Campus, followed by the craft market where the Rag partners of the organisations on the University crafted items to sell, all the proceeds made from the craft market were donated to the partners various charities. Later there was the sport tournaments where the partnerships would partake together in a friendly match of soccer and touch rugby. Lastly to end the day, was the push cart race. Here the different partnership spent the past week constructing push carts to enter  into the race, unfortunately with two races in the weather changed its mind and the races were canceled.

With the day concluded, the turn out of the event was successfull and returned the meaning of what RAG was created for. The coming together as a student body and enriching the lives of others around us.

At the end we have to acknowledge the work the Rag Council put into this successful event, as well as Kollege our Rag partner for their support on the day helping our partnership land a first place in the Soccer tournament, and also a second place in the Touch Rugby tournament.
