UP renews extensive partnership with Kehl University

Posted on March 09, 2018

UP’s School of Public Management and Administration (SPMA)has renewed its Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) of Friendship and Cooperation with the Hochschule für öffentliche Verwaltung Kehl – University of Applied Sciences (Kehl University).

The MOA was originally signed on 14 August 1997. As a result of this agreement, which was renewed in 2009, the SPMA has been hosting a delegation from Kehl University annually since 1997, with the latest one being in February 2018. The SPMA also receives exchange students from Kehl University.  In return, the SPMA sends a staff member to Kehl University to deliver a lecture and take part in collaborative research and simulations with Kehl University students and staff.

Prof Wit, the Rector of Kehl University, joined the delegation this year and afforded another opportunity for the MOA to be renewed. The MOA was signed by Prof Wit and the Dean of the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences, Prof Loots. Prof Wit also met with the Vice Chancellor and Principal of the University of Pretoria, Prof Cheryl de la Rey on 13 February 2018. The meeting was very productive and a number of agreements were reached, including encouragement for a joint project underway on the interface between public administration and migrants and refugees, which will be a comparative analysis between Germany and South Africa.
