You are cordially invited to a public lecture by Professor Mutalib A. Aderogba titled “Forests and oceans: reservoirs of bioactive compounds”.

Mutalib A. Aderogba is a Professor at the Department of Chemistry at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Nigeria. He obtained a PhD (Chemistry) in the area of Natural Products Chemistry from the university in 2003. He was also a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Paraclinical Sciences’ Phytomedicine Programme at the University of Pretoria in South Africa (2005-2006) and a visiting scientist to the Department of Chemistry at the University of Botswana, Gaborone (2008), University of the Western Cape, South Africa (2010) and the Research Centre for Plant Growth and Development, University of KwaZulu-Natal, Pietermaritzburg, South Africa (2012-2013).

Prof Aderogba’s research interest is mainly in isolation and characterisation of antiradicals (antioxidants), acetylcholinesterase and alpha-glucosidase inhibitors from medicinal plants and marine algae that are used in the management of oxidative stress-related diseases.
