Academic staff members: submit your prescribed and recommended textbooks data for the second semester of 2021

Submissions for the second semester of 2021 may now be submitted on the Nevada platform http://www.nevada-cloud.com/

The database will be open until 30 April 2021. 

It is imperative that all prescribed books for the next semester are submitted on time. The book shops rely on this list to pre-order their stock. Therefore, even if a book was prescribed in a previous semester or year, it should be re-submitted, as the number of students may differ and newer editions of the book may be available. Study guides are not used to obtain information regarding prescribed books.

Please verify, update and adjust the information of the book, especially the ISBN, to the newest edition or leave a note of a forthcoming publication. Please complete the template in full as we use all the information (publishers included) for statistical and other reports. 

We also remind you not to liaise with a specific book shop instead of posting, as we must adhere to the Competition Act and make the information available to all.  

The Library has tried to acquire as many eBooks as possible over the past year, however, not all eBooks are available on the platforms accessible to the library even though they are available in e-format to the students. In these instances, the library will still acquire a hard copy and assist with scanning sections (within copyright laws) that can be uploaded to ClickUP.

In short:

Prescribed titles are the main source of information that students need to pass modules and they need to obtain their own copies to study from. Therefore, this information is sent to the book shops, the Library and other relevant parties.

Extra reading or recommended titles are not sent to the bookshops. However, the library will acquire a copy of recommended titles.

If your department has a textbook administrator, please ensure that the necessary information reaches the person concerned before 30 April 2021. Late submissions only complicate the process and run the risk of not being available in the book shops in time.
