The Special Collections Book of the Week this week is:

England and South Africa by Edward J. Gibbs.

Published in 1889 and unquestionably a book of its time, ‘England and South Africa’ offers an interesting view into colonialism by the colonisers. From the preface: “[the author has] attempted [..] to give a general history of the main features of [British] policy and conduct, especially since the abolition of slavery and the' trekking' of the Boers.”
