FEATURING - Sasol Proteas: A field guide to the Proteas of Southern Africa by Tony Rebelo

Posted on October 14, 2019

The Special Collections Book of the Week this week is:

Sasol Proteas: A field guide to the Proteas of Southern Africa by Tony Rebelo.

This 2001 edition of Sasol Proteas presents the latest information available about the Proteaceae, a family so diverse that it encompasses both the robust, eye-catching King Protea and the delicate blushing bride. Three new species have been found since the publication of the first edition in 1995, a species believed to have been extinct has been rediscovered, and the distribution ranges of some 30 per cent of the species has been extended. Sasol Proteas is an invaluable companion on all rambles in the fynbos. It was published in association with the National Botanical Institute and with the support of Sasol and WWF South Africa.
