Phasing out of library long-term loan privileges

Posted on October 01, 2019

Effective 1st January 2020, all long-term borrowing privileges will be phased out. Library books currently on long-term loan will have to be returned to the library to be issued to academic staff members according to the revised privileges below. Books bought from departmental funds will not be affected and will remain in the faculty.

The revision of this privilege will assist the library to improve efficiency and increase access to print resources for all library users.

Please take note of the revised privileges in this regard:

  • Permanent academic staff will be entitled to borrow 30 books (instead of 20) on their personal records for 60 days (instead of 30 days).

  • Books may be renewed 3 times before returning them to the library. In exceptional circumstances, books may be recalled when requested by another user.

  • Academic staff will receive courtesy notices via e-mail, to assist them in returning or renewing books in their possession on time.
