Posted on September 12, 2019

Fourteen Business Management honours students recently attended an International Study Week at Coventry University in the United Kingdom. This new and exclusive international programme was developed with Coventry University as part of the Department of Business Management’s effort to develop students’ professional careers and expand their skills for a global marketspace.

Students attended five full days of intense courses at Coventry University and completed a globally recognised Bloomberg certification course, using Europe’s largest Academic Trading Floor. A parallel theme during the week was a focus on Coventry’s automobile sector, consisting of lectures with senior academics, industry leaders and CEOs. The students also had site visits to Aston Martin Works and the Landover/Jaguar manufacturing plant. Students engaged in a range of discussions regarding political and structural changes on the horizon in the UK, discussing strategic issues with senior managers and leading academics. This gave participants a unique insight into managing organisations through structural changes in a leading economy.

The tour ended with a weekend in London, where the students got to see the major tourist attractions such as the Tower of London, British Museum, Buckingham Palace and a whole lot more. “Overall, the course was a major success and we intend on making the opportunity available again to next year’s Business Management honours students,” said Dr Wesley Rosslyn-Smith, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Business Management and programme organiser.
