Message from the Head of Department

When you think about history you usually think about dates, events, people and facts, right? And most people say: “So boring!” Well history is a lot more than these; it is about context, interpretation, application and relevance. It is about remembering and reflecting on the past to help us to understand the present and shape the future. Thus history is not static or dead but dynamic and alive! This is how we attempt to study Church History in our Department as we reflect, interpret and understand God’s movement throughout the ages both in and through the Church and in the world at large. By using modern methods of teaching and learning through inquiry, investigation, interactive classes, critical engagement and intensive research our lecturers strive at making Church History relevant and alive.
