The University of Pretoria's Centre for the Advancement of Scholarship and the Johannesburg Institute of Advanced Study invite you to a one-day multi-disciplinary symposium at which the tragic atrocity, otherwise known as the Bulhoek Massacre will be revisited.
On the 24th of May 2021, to the day, it will be a hundred years since the Bulhoek Massacre – in which as many as 200 members of the Israelites church were killed by the Union police. More than a hundred members of the church were wounded and more than 141, including their leader, Enoch Mgijima, were arrested.
