Message From The Director, Prof T-H Joubert.

At CEFIM we are an enthusiastic and dynamic group of engineers and students with a mission to

• Provide expert human resources for Southern Africa
• Do research
• Serve the community in the fields of microelectronics, optoelectronics and related areas.

These goals are attained by

• Training undergraduate students in the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Computer  Engineering
• Maintaining a postgraduate program which includes both research and training
• Creating and expanding facilities for research
• Promoting links between and co-operation with organisations working in the same fields
• Being a centre of expertise in the microelectronics and optoelectronics.
• Creating facilities for new fields of research in microelectronics and optoelectronics.

Together with our postgraduate students, we address research questions in millimetre wave microelectronics, mixed-signal integrated circuit design, micro-electro mechanical systems (MEMS), silicon photonics, printed electronics and novel electronic devices.
