Old College House (in-person), Hatfield Campus or Virtual (link to be sent in advance of session)
The Transformation Office is currently hosting a U.S. Fulbright Scholar from the University of Maryland. As part of her research project, we cordially invite you to one of a series of seminars. The theme of this hybrid dialogue is: Sisterhood, Healing and Rest: A Pathway Towards Resistance against Occupational Distress for Black Women.
In this 3-hour session, we explore opportunities for resistance within occupational distress. The aim of this session is to empower participants to find their paths to occupational wellness through the lens of Black & African feminist practices. We will discuss Black & African Feminism as a liberatory practice, the concept of rest as resistance to occupational distress, and the role of healing and restoration in our professional lives. Additionally, we will explore how sisterhood can contribute to occupational wellness. This is the fifth & final hybrid dialogue in a series on Black women professionals at historically white universities. Light refreshments will be served.
RSVP: Please email [email protected], by Monday, 30 September 2024. We can only accommodate 35 people per session as space is limited. Please note a signed consent form may be required for your attendance.
