In Gods Naam (In God’s Name) looks at the history of the Slave Church in Cape Town – this church was crucial in drafting the Belhar Confession, the theological confrontation against apartheid. The film considers the long reach of a colonial and slave history and confronts the schisms that remain unreconciled between the NGK and URCSA.

The one-hour event will be hosted by Professor Norman Duncan (Vice-Principal: Academic, UP) and will include a discussion with:

• Rev Dr Llewellyn MacMaster (Moderator of the Cape Regional Synod Uniting Reformed Church in Southern Africa (URCSA) (RCSA))
• Professor Hennie Stander (UP and emeritus minister of the NGK)
• Ms Jolina Zimri (URCSA, Belhar Congregation)
• Ds Riaan de Villiers (Nederduitse Gereformeerde Kerk (NGK), Groote Kerk Congregation), and
• Dr Siona O’Connell (UP).
