The University of Pretoria’s (UP) Alumni Relations Office invites you to a special edition LeadUP: Heritage Month virtual chat. The aim of this panel discussion is to bring together a group of diverse experts and alumni from across the globe to reflect on heritage and what it means, as well as suggest ways in which the power of diversity can be leveraged in society.

Vasu Reddy, Professor of Sociology, and Dean of the Faculty of Humanities at UP, will be in conversation with Professor Pitika Ntuli, world renowned sculptor, poet, writer and academic; Professor Karen Harris, Head of the Department of Historical and Heritage Studies; Dr Sian Tiley-Nel, Head of UP Museums, Curator of the Mapungubwe Collection & Archive and sub-editor of the South African Museums Association Bulletin (SAMAB); and Reverend Charlotte Sibanyoni, Lecturer in the Department of Ancient and Modern Languages and Cultures. The discussion is titled, Harnessing heritage: How can we leverage the power of our diversity?

In this exciting discussion, Prof Reddy will chat to the panellists about topics ranging from what heritage is, why it matters, as well as looking at the role of institutions of higher learning and education in promoting heritage and culture.
