The Director of the University of Pretoria’s Department of Library Services, Robert Moropa, in collaboration with the Gauteng Department of Arts, Culture and Sports and Recreation, invites you to celebrate National Book Week and Heritage Month at a panel discussion titled “The dynamics of Heritage Preservation in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution”.

On the panel will be keynote speaker Professor Pitika Ntuli and authors Lindiwe Hani and Hlumeko Biko and Professor Vasu Reddy (Dean of the Faculty of Humanities at UP). The panel discussion is part of the Author’s Reflections Series: In the Footsteps of my Forefathers.

Prof Ntuli is a South African sculptor, poet, writer, and academic who spent 32 years of his life in exile in Swaziland and the UK. He holds an MFA from the Pratt Institute in New York and an MA in Comparative Industrial Relations and Industrial Sociology.

During the panel discussion authors Hani and Biko (whose parents, Chris Hani and Steven Biko, were key political leaders in a struggle that has shaped South Africa’s social, political and economic reality) will dissect the thought processes and emotions behind the written experiences beyond the written documentation.

Delegates will have an opportunity to interact with UP’s library service robot, Libby, an innovation and pioneering 4IR/ Artificial Intelligence product in the library space in the African Continent.

Refreshments will be served after the event.
