The games were not easy for both teams but the ladies had a better pool than the men which saw them sail through to the quarterfinals and the men not making it past the group stages. The ladies won against Monash Queens and Jozi Nuggets in the group stages, finishing first in their pool whereas the men won against Wits Young Bucks and DK Ball Addicts and lost to Goodfellas and Northern Tigers which unfortunately saw them finishing third in their pool and not advancing to the quarterfinals.
The ladies then went on to play Wits Lady Bucks in the quarterfinals and despite the fact that it wasn’t an easy game, they ended up victorious. Then they went on to face Vaal University of Technology (VUT) in the semifinals. That’s where their participation in the tournament came to an end as they lost and VUT went on to win the whole tournament.
Congratulations to both the teams. We knew that the tournament wasn’t going to be a walk in the park but we still went out there and did the best we could. Congratulations to Ms Takalani Mfamadi (ladies’ first team) who walked away with an All Star Award at the tournament.
