Professor Wium de Villiers is a full professor in the Department of Procedural Law and holds the degrees BIuris LLB LLD.
He has extensive experience in criminal litigation and has inter alia worked as prosecutor, magistrate and advocate in private practice (as a member of the Pretoria Bar).
His areas of expertise are criminal procedure and the law of evidence, including constitutional and international criminal procedure and evidence.
He teaches criminal procedure and the law of evidence at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
Professor de Villiers has 54 publications in accredited peer reviewed local and foreign based international journals and has delivered many papers at local and international conferences. He has also lectured abroad and presides in the Law School practical examinations in criminal procedure.
