Project focus: The focus of this dissertation is primarily a technological enquiry in which brickwork is reconsidered as a contemporary technology expressed tectonically, considering local specifi city. It is argued that this reconsideration positions the project within the ever–expanding discourse of craft. The rich brick tradition as evident in Pretoria, will also be contextualised as it infl uences how the design responds to the context. |
