Project intention: Reinterpreting lodge typologies in remote/rural areas to create a sustainable tourism model.The focus of this dissertation will be on realizing the potential of tourism as an economic driver in remote post-industrial or post productivism towns and understanding the barriers that may be preventing it from maximizing its impact. The town of Emgwenya (formerly Waterval Boven) will be used as a case study to investigate how the existing systems can be adapted to accommodate and take advantage of tourism activity.
