The Department of Architecture presents undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in the disciplines of Architecture, Interior Design and Landscape Architecture. The degrees are offered in the Professional, Research and Applied Sciences streams.
A studio-based culture is at the core of the curriculum of the professional streams, through which knowledge and skills in design, theory, research, communication and management are nurtured and developed. Studio projects are informed by subject modules covering diverse aspects, such as theory of the discipline and design, the techne of architecture, cultural and bio-physical environmental principles, history of the built environment, structure, services and design communication. The first year has a common curriculum and from the second year onwards, students gain programme specific knowledge. In the postgraduate streams the disciplines again conglomerate around common design problems.
The Department has a well educated staff that are committed to excellence in teaching and research. The professional and research graduates of this Department are highly regarded, both locally and abroad. The Department has a commitment to innovation and insistence on international recognition for the programmes in architecture, interior design and landscape architecture.
