I am a Professor of Development Studies and Head of Department for Anthropology and Archaeology. I received my Bsc Sociology (Hons) from the University of Zimbabwe, before completing an MA (Rural Development) and PhD in Development Studies from the University of East Anglia (UK). My main programme of research is focused on former migrant labour societies, with a particular focus on southern Africa's former labour reserves. I have undertaken research into the complexity of the worker-peasantry, land and agrarian question, gender dynamics and livelihoods, dynamics of change, food security, climate change, and adaptation responses and policy responses, in the southern African region. I have over 20 publications in peer-reviewed journals, and 14 of these were achieved between 2017 and 2020.
I am current working on a project on agrarian and social change and food security crisis in former migrant labour societies', with a focus on former labour reserves in north-western Zimbabwe and Lesotho
