I started learning Spanish in my final year of high school and when I came to the university I was happy to see that they offered Spanish as well in that way I could continue learning Spanish. Learning Spanish has exposed me to the different Hispanic cultures and I have gained a new perspective of the world. I truly enjoyed the classes and have learnt Spanish beyond the grammar. Learning Spanish has allowed meet people from the many Spanish speaking countries both those living amongst us and visiting. In my final year of Spanish at UP I was offered a scholarship to go study at La Universidad de la Rioja in Spain.  I can definitely say that my Spanish has improved a lot living in Spain and using the language on a daily basis. I have learned a lot about the Spanish culture as a whole and the difference within the various cultures that exist in the country.  I have learnt a lot about Spanish, history, gastronomy, literature and more. What I most enjoyed from my experience in Spain was traveling in the different provinces of Spain. With the languages that I’ve learnt, I’d like to work in diplomatic service or the in United Nations.  I would definitely recommend learning Spanish to anyone interested in learning a foreign language.
