Spanish helped a former student build her career

Hi, my name is Mohini and I studied Spanish at the University of Pretoria from 2012 to 2014. I went on to do my Honours degree in Translation and Professional Writing in 2015, where I chose Spanish and English as my main practice languages, and I am currently attaining my Masters degree where Spanish translation and subtitling are regarded as my main topics of interest.

Learning Spanish has helped me a lot in the past years. Firstly, the Spanish classes that I attended at the University have helped me build confidence in myself as a speaker and as an individual, especially in my job as a language consultant. Secondly, even though I do not practice my Spanish as much as I would like to, the classes were very impactful and I am still able to communicate in Spanish to my friends that I have studied with and that have now become lifelong friends that I still keep in touch with. Lastly, my experience of learning Spanish at university will always be cherished, as I thoroughly enjoyed the classes that were presented and I am confident that many opportunities will be presented to me in the future that will allow me to use my Spanish speaking and writing skills more often.
