Dr William Lekgoa Mapena:

Mr Mapena has over 15 years’ experience serving in governance structures which include 4 years of chairing an ethics committee, 5 years of a member of an electricity and energy utility,10 years of a member of a water and engineering infrastructure committee, and 5 years of chairing an infrastructure and water-related committee. His experience includes being responsible for governance and oversight of a municipality, serving as a trustee of a pension fund, a member of Council of a university, and a board member of an SOE. Within these structures, he served in various committees and also chaired committees. He values ethical leadership and is a proponent of good corporate social responsibility in advancing the goals of sustainable development in corporate governance. He is currently the chairperson of the Human Resources & Remuneration Committee of a SOE.

   
Dr Heidi October:

Heidi October serves on Stellenbosch University’s Student Affairs management team as Deputy Director: Centre for Student Leadership, Experiential Education, & Citizenship (CSLEEC) and Head of the Frederik van Zyl Slabbert Institute for Student Leadership Development (FVZSI). She has extensive international Higher Education stakeholder relation experience and has been actively involved in student leadership since the 1990s. She holds BA, HonsBA and MPhil: Organisations & Public Cultures degrees, a Scholarship in Educational Leadership (with distinction) from Stellenbosch University and Management Development Program (with distinction) (USB-Ed). She is currently enrolled for a PhD in Leadership Studies at the University of Pretoria (ALLI) and her research interests focus on student leadership identity formation in post-Apartheid South Africa.

   

Dr Stanley Ntakumba:

Mr Ntakumba started his career as a teacher in 1999. In 2003 and 2004 he was a researcher in the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC), which was followed by middle management roles in the Policy and Research Unit of the Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) in 2005 and 2006. In 2007 he joined the erstwhile Policy and Advisory Services (PCAS) in the Presidency as a senior policy analyst on government-wide monitoring and evaluation. Since 2010 he served as a senior manager for the national Department of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation (DPME) and is currently working in the Presidency.. Stanley holds a BA(Education) and BA (Honours) from the former University of Transkei (now Walter Sisulu University). He also holds a PDIM from the former Rand Afrikaans University (now University of Johannesburg), an MSc (cum laude) from Rhodes University, and an MBL from the University of South Africa.

Critical discourse analysis of Responsible Leadership

   

Mr Khathu Ramukumba:

Mr Ramukumba completed his articles for the Chartered Accountant qualification at the Office of the Auditor General between August 2003 and July 2006. On completion of his articles, he joined Ellerines Holdings in a position of Senior Internal Auditor from August 2006 to October 2006. He then joined the Rand Water Board until May 2011 where he worked for a period of five years holding various positions within the Internal Audit department from senior internal auditor to General Manager: Internal Audit Manager. He joined the National Youth Development Agency in June 2011 and held a position of Chief Financial Officer until 01 February 2014 when he was appointed to the position of Chief Executive Officer. The NYDA also achieved its first 100% attainment of its parliament-approved Annual Performance plan (APP) during his tenure. Mr Ramukumba joined the University of South Africa (UNISA) in a position of Vice Principal: Finance and Business Enterprise/Chief Financial Officer in February 2021. He possesses a BCom (Financial Accounting) from the University of Pretoria; BCom Hons (Financial Accounting) with CTA from the University of Kwazulu Natal; He is a qualified Chartered Accountant with a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Henley Business school.

Mr Lawrence Matemba:

Mr Lawrence Matemba is the Acting Head of the Policy and Research Services Branch in The Presidency. The main function of this role is to provide technical and content support to the Principals in The Presidency, particularly with regard to policy coordination, integration, and coherence; enhancing evidence-based high-quality executive decision making, and driving some of the cross-cutting policy priorities initiatives. He holds a Masters of Commerce (M Com) degree in Business Administration from the Graduate School of Business at the University of Cape Town. His interests lie in leadership in development, i.e. the capabilities that are required to be able to implement complex agendas such as the United Nations SDGs, Medium Term Strategic Framework (MTSF), the Economic Reconstruction and Recovery Plan (ERRP), etc

   
 
Rashmi Rambiritch:
 
 
Rashmi Rambiritch holds a BSc and postgraduate diploma in dietetics from UKZN. She later completed her BMus through UNISA where she majored in violin performance and musicology. In 2021, she completed her MPhil in Responsible Leadership with distinction at the ALLI. Her research interests lie in sustainable strategy, gender equality and healthcare. 
   

Priscilla Morley:

Priscilla Morley is an experienced subject matter expert on socio-economic and community development, with extensive experience in the field of social development as a Sustainability/CSI Specialist, social researcher and evaluator, community-based driven program implementer, program manager, program assistant and research analyst. Her work experience spans across government (local and international), corporates, donors (local and international), community-based structures and individuals. She is extremely passionate about implementing sustainable development programs. She holds a BA Social Science and BA Social Science Honours from the University of Johannesburg (formerly Rand Afrikaans University), and a Master’s in Development Practice (MDP) from the University of Pretoria, which she obtained with distinction. She currently serves as a mentor supervisor for the 2022 MDP cohort and is supervising one MDP student’s thesis.

   

Dudu Nyembe:

Dudu Nyembe holds a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Pretoria’s business school (GIBS), having done her undergraduate degree in commerce, with an accounting major at the University of Eswatini (formerly Swaziland). She is also a member of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) and a Chartered Accountant (CA) (SD) from the Eswatini Institute of Accountants. She has extensive experience in the accounting field, having started her career as a Trainee Accountant with PwC over 17 years ago and currently serving as a Finance Director of the largest medical aid fund in Eswatini.  Her research interests are on public interest accounting, critical accounting, sustainability reporting and assurance, social and environmental accounting, sustainable development and effective leadership.

Lerato Morathi:

Lerato Morathi holds a master’s degree in industrial psychology and is an executive member of the Society for Industrial & Organizational Psychology South Africa (SIOPSA). He has worked in the private sector for over decade, and has extensive experience in the human capital field, with a focus on employee experience, mental health & wellbeing, organizational design & development, talent management, change management, leadership development, as well as DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging). Lerato Morathi is passionate about driving individual performance and organizational effectiveness through leadership enablement. He is a mentor to new leaders and aspires to create societal transformation through leadership research and dialogue that addresses social inequities.   

   

Rachel Elsie Ntimela Sinthumule:

Rachel Sinthumule is a Specialist: Customs International Trade at the South African Revenue Service (SARS). She forms part of the SARS Customs Modernisation Team in Customs Border Operations. She has over 17 years’ working experience within the public sector and served in variety of support, human resource, training, quality assurance and project portfolios. Her current area of focus in SARS is in the successful delivery of customs strategic projects, delivering on the customs modernisation agenda by ensuring the successful implementation of Customs and Customs related initiatives. This entails providing Customs operation with specialised support from a capacity building perspective to ensure efficiency, effectiveness, and alignment to best international practice of customs administrations. In addition to her many responsibilities, she is an active coordinator of the Gender Equality and Diversity agenda representing interests of SARS Women In Customs.

   

Ofentse Alec Theledi

Ofentse Alec Theledi is a seasoned risk and compliance specialist well-versed in financial crime compliance, compliance management, operational risk management, strategic risk management, risk governance, and leadership. Ofentse has held a number of Senior Management roles within the banking industry with the primary focus on the development and implementation of risk and compliance management  strategy, structure and processes. He holds a Master of Philosophy in Responsible Leadership from the ALLI, Postgraduate Diploma in Risk Management (with distinction) from MANCOSA, a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from Unisa, and is a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist. His research interests lie in responsible leadership, financial crime risk management, and consumer education.
