Given the a-symmetric power relations between the languages of South Africa, and especially the enormous prestige of English and the concommitant marginalisation of the African languages, as well as the consequent poor school achievement of especially black learners in the country, it is ESSENTIAL that we debate the issue, and ask what we can do about it.
 
The paper will be given in HSB 15-02 at 10:00 on Monday, 27 February.
