The organisation’s mission is to support and contribute to research, policy and practice in the field of History education in Africa in order to enhance the quality of education across the continent while also promoting trans-African dialogue and cooperation.

The organisation aims to fulfil its mission by:

Connecting and supporting History education professionals and their associations across Africa and beyond, including senior and early-career scholars, educators from primary, secondary and higher education, curriculum developers, textbook authors, teacher trainers, educational staff in cultural institutions such as museums and memorial sites, and international partners.

Providing a forum for knowledge-sharing and networking, and encouraging opportunities for discussion of, and cooperation on, issues of common interest for individuals and organisations concerned with History teaching and learning in Africa.

Building professional capacity among History educators in Africa.

Advocating for high-quality and relevant History education.
