Posted on November 12, 2018

Professor Birgit Kuschke, Deputy Dean of the University of Pretoria’s Faculty of Law, was recently appointed as a Vice-President of the International Insurance Law Association, or AIDA (Association International de Droit des Assurances).

AIDA is a non-profit international association formed in 1960 to promote and develop collaboration between its members in order to expand the study and knowledge base of international and national insurance law and related matters. The organisation aims to propose measures that the insurance industry may adopt at a national and international level to harmonise insurance law or the resolution of insurance disputes.

The Presidential Council defines AIDA’s working programme at an international level. The council is composed of the President, Honorary Presidents, up to four Vice-Presidents, the Chairpersons of the Working Parties and a maximum of 25 councillors.

Prof Kuschke was elected at the 15th World Congress, hosted by the Brazilian chapter. She is also the representative of AIDA’s South African chapter.

Law Faculty Dean André Boraine thanked Prof Kuschke for keeping the faculty on the global map.
