All MSc, MMed and PhD protocols have to be approved by the Academic Advisory Committee (AAC) before being submitted to the Main Ethics Committee.

All MPH protocols have to be approved by the SHSPH Academic Programme Committee (APC) before being submitted to the Student Ethics Committee.

The submission requirements and forms for these committees are updated regularly and students should always confirm the latest requirements before submission. A link to the webpage of the Ethics Committee is available via the School’s website.

Students are to personally submit the required number of copies to the secretary of the Ethics Committee. The protocol must be submitted before the deadline, which is usually four to five weeks before the meeting date. Meeting dates are included on the Committee webpages.

The student must make enquiries about the outcome from the secretary of the Ethics Committee.

After approval of the research protocol, the student may start his or her research under the close supervision of the supervisor.
