Office of the Director: Residence Affairs and Accommodation

All residence affairs (residence management and life, finances and administration, facilities management and accommodation and catering services) are managed by the Department of Residence Affairs and Accommodation with Prof Roelf Visser as the Director.

General information

• Some 6 750 students live in well-equipped men's and women's residences, where every resident takes part in the dynamic Tuks student life.
• Each residence enthusiastically participates in sport and cultural activities, and social interaction obviously flourishes in these residences.
• The residences are equipped with comfortable single and double rooms, spacious lounges, recreation halls, IT minilabs, television rooms, laundries, ironing facilities, sports facilities and coin-operated telephones.
• With the exception of Katjiepiering, the ladies' residences are located close to the University. The men's residences and Katjiepiering are located approximately 1,5 km from the Hatfield Campus. A bus service operates between Katjiepiering, the men's residences and the Hatfield Campus, and at present the service is free of charge for residents.
• The Groenkloof Campus (Faculty of Education) is situated approximately 3,5 km from the Hatfield Campus. A bus service is presently available free of charge for students who attend classes on the Hatfield Campus.
• The Princehof Campus (Faculty of Health Sciences) is situated approximately 6 km from the Hatfield Campus. A bus service is presently available free of charge for students who attend classes on the Hatfield Campus.
• The Onderstepoort Campus (Faculty of Veterinary Science) is situated approximately 25km from the Hatfield Campus. The Onderstepoort Residence is reserved for students in DipVetNurs, BSc Veterinary Biology (third year) and BVSc.
• Residences are so popular that demand exceeds the availability, so it is advisable to apply early. Placement is based on the M-score.
