Student Culture is not merely one of
the service providers of the University
of Pretoria, but the heartbeat of campus.
It is constantly challenged to keep
its finger on the pulse of student life.
This is done through multicultural projects
that aim to satisfy the culture need
of every Tukkie.
Student Culture, better known as STUKU,
is situated in Tukkiewerf on Main campus.
The service provider currently consists
out of ten executive committee members
and forty two general committee members.
The members are divided into eight portfolios
to cover all relevant culture activities
as well as the organising component
of a service provider.
The “No image…just plain
fun” campaign was started in the
2003 term and highlights the fun part
of student life that is represented
by culture. The main aim of STUKU is
to provide equal cultural opportunities
to all students on campus, whether they
are members of day- and faculty houses
or residences. These opportunities include
dancing, acting, singing, visual arts
and poetry.
Projects that are done on a yearly
basis includes: UParts, Serrie, Film
Festival, Ienkmelodienk, Serenade to
name but a few. The projects are focused
on all culture groups at Tuks.
As these projects run throughout the
year, STUKU is truly the pulse of student
life.
